The Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning (TCCL) announces today that Nadine Baker has resigned from the position of Director, effective October 5th, 2021.
Nadine Baker became involved with the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning during its infancy as the charitable arts organization created to manage the City-owned J.K. Tett building. As a founding Director of the Tett Centre’s Board of Directors, she was a key leader in the development of sustainable business strategies for the centre's reopening in 2015. Since late 2015, Baker has led a team of staff and volunteers to activate this vibrant arts hub with programming, events, and community partnerships and to support the building’s resident artists and arts organizations.
Reflecting on her contributions, Baker affirmed, “My involvement with the Tett Centre has been the most rewarding experience in my professional career. For five years with the TCCL Board of Directors and nearly six years leading the Tett Staff team, I have had the profound pleasure of seeing the organization grow steadily from a dream-like idea to a meaningful reality. I feel incredibly proud of our accomplishments, and it has been an honour to be an integral part of such a special and successful project for the community. I look forward to seeing the Tett Centre continue to grow as Kingston’s community arts centre in the years to come.”
Jan Allen, Chair of the TCCL Board of Directors, expressed her gratitude, saying, “On behalf of the Board, I thank Nadine for her dedicated leadership and creative service to the Tett Centre. Her passion for its mission has been clear at every stage. She has played a vital role in creating an arts hub of which this city can be very proud. I wish her the very best in the next phase of her life and work.”
The Board is taking immediate steps to begin a search for Nadine Baker’s successor. Allen points out, “The Tett Centre is emerging from the pandemic in great shape. We will be working hard to identify a visionary new leader to take the organization to its next phase. In the meantime, I’m happy to announce that Brianne Franklin has agreed to serve as Interim Director.”
