Ceramics Reconsidered is a public celebration of the year-long inaugural Kingston Potters’ Guild Mentorship Program. The mentees, professional ceramicists, and accomplished hobby potters transformed and revitalized their pottery with the guidance of an experienced mentor, Angelo di Petta, a ceramics professor from OCADU (retired). Angelo encouraged the group to “Show what inspires you visually, and then decide how to express that in ceramics in a way that differs from what you have done before.” Mentees showed their developing work during the 8 day-long sessions and were encouraged, through a group critique process to think critically about their design choices. Join us Thursday for the opening night with thanks to the support of Baja Craft Kitchen for the appetizers and beverages.
In conjunction, the Kingston Arts Council Gallery will display a mini show of the steps along the way in the mentorship process in October 2023. Visit: kingstonpottersguild.ca & tettcentre.org
