Hand Bookbinding Workshop: Introduction to Basic Bookbinding

The spine of a hand-bound book.
Date(s)
Saturday, July 6, 11AM - 4PM
Location
Tett Centre Gallery
Presenter
Peter Sramek

On the first day, you will learn how to easily create small, decorative blank books and later be able to assemble your own contents into book form. This workshop will cover basic folding and sewing of small sample bindings, covering a range appropriate for newcomers to book making: single section pamphlets and stab sewings, albums and multi-section formats with paper covers.

A second workshop will be held on Sunday covering linkstitch and album bindings.

These workshops will be relaxed and fun, with a maximum of 8 participants and are appropriate for those unfamiliar with hand binding as well as those who would like to expand their knowledge of making folded and sewn book formats without adhesives. All materials will be provided. Bring a notebook, pencils, utility knife and cutting mat if you have one. It doesn't take much. We will take a break for lunch.

Beginner + Intermediate Friendly | Ages 15-100+ (participants must be safe to use a knife)
