The Kingston Arts Council is partnering with Immigrant Services Kingston and Area to bring an arts workshop led by a newcomer artist. Jamal Saeed is a Syrian-born artist that recently relocated to Kingston with his family. In this free workshop participants will explore calligraphy and acrylic painting. About Jamal Saeed
Jamal Saeed is a Syrian author with a passion for art. He has a bachelor degree in English Literature and has worked in publishing and book design. Jamal was incarcerated for 12 years as a prisoner of consciousness‚ and after his release‚ his family faced threats of kidnapping and worse. As a result, Jamal and his family sought asylum in Dubai before moving to Canada. He and his family arrived in Kingston in December 2016 with support from the Kingston Writers’ Refugee Committee.

Kingston Handloom Weavers and Spinners A Taste of Spinning and Weaving
10:00 am – 4:00 pm KHWS Studio (Room 205) and The Rehearsal Hall
Join us at an all-day open studio to see how weavers use looms to weave yarn into fabric, and spinners use spinning wheels and spindles to turn fleece into yarn. Take part in mini-workshops to weave on little looms and spin on CD spindles. Everyone is welcome, children included.

Kingston School of Dance An afternoon of dancing, instruction and a lot of fun, or just practice your steps!

Learn the Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango and Salsa with Ebon Gage during this 1.5 hr class. Come solo or bring a partner, it’s a chance to try something different on a Saturday afternoon.
