Get into the spooky spirit with our Halloween-themed cross-stitching workshop! Join award-winning textile artist Gil for an entry-level workshop in cross stitch techniques. Participants will be provided with all the materials needed to create a Halloween-themed piece, including instructions for finishing the piece on their own. Gil will teach techniques including starting and finishing threads, completing "Danish method" stitching, and backstitching. Common cross stitch materials and finishing methods will be discussed. No prior experience is required, and youth accompanied by an adult are welcome to join.

About the Instructor

Gil Segev (he/him) is an Israeli-Canadian artist, activist, and attorney in training. When he is not performing as his drag queen character, Gila Münster (she/her), or studying for his J.D. at Queen's University, he is an avid textile artist with a focus on the technique of cross stitch. His work has won first-place prizes in the Markham Fair two years running, and he sells his original patterns via his Etsy shop (https://gsiproductions.etsy.com). Gil has exhibited his work in galleries in Toronto, Mississauga, and Kingston, as well as taught workshops across Ontario. He is a member of the Toronto Guild of Stitchery and the Embroidery Association of Canada.
