Are you ready to celebrate Culture Days? The Tett Centre is actively preparing for this exciting, engaging 3-day event that is free to the public and helps connect them with diverse hands-on and free arts and culture activities in their community.
Canada itself is a melting pot of culture, and Kingston has become an ever-evolving city of innovative art. At the core of all things arts and culture is the Tett, which is offering Culture Days programming from September 30th to October 2nd.
“Culture Days is an opportunity for the community to share their experience through the arts!” explains Eban Gage, Artistic Director at Kingston School of Dance. “Whether it be through dance, visual art or vocal expression, Culture Days gives us the chance to celebrate the diversity of our city.”
Studios will be open for the public to explore the eight amazing organizations and the Tett8 Creativity Studios housed within the Tett. Watch the Kingston Handloom Weavers and Spinners work their magic on a loom or learn first-hand the time honoured techniques employed by the Kingston Potters’ Guild.
Children can take part in the very special Kids Creativity Club on Saturday, October 1st This popular club fosters a love of art and self-expression in the early years. Kids 10 and over can also take part in family friendly workshops such as Foam Carving with Patricia, a Creativity Studio Artist.
If music and dance is more your style, jam out in the many movement workshops hosted throughout the weekend! Take a musical journey with Hoza! in the stunning Rehearsal Hall to the beats of West African djembe drums or take part in a Community Movement Mural with Tim Rosillo in the Activity Room.
